Strong state semifinal run, plus lots of returning talent, has Sachs smiling about future of FHS boys LAX

Freshman attacker Finn Sachs, the team leader in goals this season, “is No. 2 in the nation” among freshmen in goals scored, said coach Sachs, also his dad. The freshman led the Ads with four goals in the semifinal.
Junior Brock Lockhart, team captain and leader in FHS points, added three goals, while junior attacker/midfielder Brody Gruver and sophomore attacker Alex Babb each added one goal. Gruver led in assists with two, while Babb, junior midfielder Daniel Lanning and sophomore defender Nicholas Toth tallied one apiece.
As for takeaways, senior defender Joe Horwege and Lockhart led with two each, while senior faceoff specialist Blake Garibay and junior Moses Burnette contributed one apiece. “Garibay won over 500 faceoffs during his career, which is fantastic,” said coach Sachs, whose team lost for just the second time Saturday (11-2).
Meanwhile, senior goalkeeper Baker Sandoval “had over 400 saves for his career,” coach Sachs said, adding Horwege has been “a stalwart defensive player for us.”
Senior defender/midfielder Nicholi Gahagan has provided “an athletic presence” who has been “somebody who’s helped keep our team going,” the coach said.
Looking to 2026, “We’ve got a lot of these boys returning next year,” coach Sachs said. “I’m really excited about the future of our team.”
