An earthquake moment to tell?
May 14, 2025 by Alan Sloan
An earthquake registering 4.1 on the Richter scale — one of the strongest locally in decades despite being officially considered light according to the scale — happened at 9:04 a.m., Saturday, May 10, and was felt throughout the Farragut/Greater Knoxville Metro area. The epicenter was said to be 25.2 miles southeast of Farragut in extreme southeast Blount County near the borders with Monroe County and the North Carolina state line. We at farragutpress are seeking local citizen reaction, such as “what I first thought when the earthquake hit,” along with the reactions of relatives, friends and pets along with any structural observations — items on shelves shaking, for example — in the coming days. Send reactions to editor@farragutpress.com
