All-American HM ex-Ad, 2-time state golf champ, begins U.S. Open Thurs.
Lance Simpson on a huge ‘stage’
Lance Simpson, a two-time individual state champion golfer at Farragut High School who recently earned Honorable Mention All-American honors as a Tennessee Volunteers redshirt junior golfer during the 2025 UT season, also earned his way into the field of one of the PGA’s “four majors,” the U.S. Open, which begins Thursday, June 12, at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. Simpson qualified for the U.S. Open after firing an 8-under-par 134 (69-65) for 36 holes at Bent Tree Country Club in Dallas ending Monday, May 19. Simpson led his Vols to a third-place regional finish during the recent NCAA Men’s Golf Championships — finishing sixth individually — as UT qualified for the NCAA Tournament finals. As an Admirals senior at FHS in the fall of 2020, SImpson’s second individual state championship also led Farragut to the Division i-Large team state crown.
