CUMC Golf Tournament honors longtime leader

Golfers, community members and supporters gathered for the annual Concord United Methodist Church Golf Tournament benefiting Loudon County Habitat for Humanity at Willow Creek Golf Course Monday, Aug. 11.

“This tradition has helped Concord United Methodist raise the funds to build a new Habitat home each year in partnership with a local family,” said Rachel Rendon, Loudon County Habitat for Humanity director of development. “This year’s tournament carried special significance as Loudon County Mayor Buddy Bradshaw issued an official proclamation declaring Aug. 11, 2025, as Terry Taylor Day in Loudon County.

“Taylor has faithfully overseen the golf tournament since 2007, leading 18 successful tournaments that have raised more than $300,000 to support the construction of 14 homes and critical neighborhood infrastructure, including Habitat’s Hilltop Hideaway community,” Rendon said.

“Through Terry’s leadership, compassion and commitment, families in our community have found stability, safety and hope,” said Tony Gibbons, executive director of Loudon County Habitat for Humanity. “His dedication reflects not only his faith but also his

vision for what is possible when a community comes together.”

“Over the years, the tournament has united golfers, local businesses, church members and volunteers around Habitat’s mission of building homes, communities and hope,” Rendon said. “Thanks to this ongoing effort, Concord United Methodist and Loudon County Habitat have partnered to provide more than 20 families with safe, affordable housing.”

The proclamation recognized Taylor’s “steadfast leadership,” noting his service “has helped families build generational wealth and achieve healthier, more secure living conditions,” she said.

“Loudon County Habitat extends heartfelt gratitude to Terry Taylor, Concord United Methodist Church and all

who contributed to making this year’s tournament a success,” Rendon said. “Together, the community continues to build a legacy that will impact families for generations to come.”
