Scott the new face of the FBA
Shop Farragut/Farragut Business Alliance soon will have a new face heading the organization.
As executive director Steve Krempasky prepares to retire, the Alliance’s hiring committee chose Vic Scott to step into Krempasky’s shoes. His retirement is effective Monday, Nov. 3.
The announcement of Scott’s being chosen was announced during SF/FBA’s meeting Wednesday morning, Oct. 7, in Hampton Inn & Suites.
“I’m really happy to be here,” Scott said. “Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
“As a former business owner myself, I really believe in the community that businesses bring and the livelihood that businesses bring to a town and what you guys have to offer when your in your businesses working every day, trying to make your livelihood, but also trying to bring your passion to the community,” she added. “It’s my great honor to be able to work with you all and I appreciate the opportunity and I look forward to what we can do with the Town of Farragut and how we can help grow the community here, both for businesses and for the Town.”
“The Farragut Business Alliance recently conducted a thorough search for candidates for the executive director position, said Wanda Malhotra, committee member. “The board carefully reviewed all submitted resumes, cover letters and suggestions provided by each applicant.
“During this process, special attention was given to candidates’ availability, requested rates of pay and relevant experience in coordinating and supporting 501(c)(3) organizations,” she said. “After compiling interview summaries, these were shared with all members of the hiring committee to ensure a transparent and collaborative decision-making process.”
President Candace Viox said there were three candidates for the job.
“All three candidates were amazing,” she said. “A lot of people were able to see it.”
“Based on these considerations, the committee has decided to extend an offer for the executive director position to Vic Scott,” Malhotra said.
“(Scott) accepted the offer, and she will be our new executive director when Steve leaves us and retires in a little while,” Viox said.
Scott is a territory manager for US Foods. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Additionally, she is a co-founder of Knox AAPI Business Association and serves as a board member for the Real Good Kitchen Foundation.
She is the former co-owner of Seoul Brothers Korean Fusion Restaurant in downtown Knoxville, former vice president of East Tennessee Equality Council and is a part of Knox News 40 Under 40 class of 2023.
She and her fiancé, Devon Wilson, have been a part of the community since 2003. They have two dogs, Oakley and Adora, and they love the outdoors and community events. Scott said her passion is helping local entrepreneurs thrive in their businesses through her job at US Foods and through her non-profit activities.
“I enjoy giving back to the community through fostering a welcoming environment that cultivates connections, a feeling of belonging and uniting people to strengthen our sense of community,” Scott said.
She noted she is coming onto FBA fresh.
“I have attended one of these meetings in the past, just to kind of feel it out to see if it was something I was interested in doing, and I decided, ‘Hey, this is for me,’” Scott said.
She decided to apply for the executive directorship because “community engagement is something I’ve always believed in. It was something deep rooted in me since I was a child.
“Ever since I was in college, I volunteered for several organizations, both non-profit and for-profit,” Scott said. “But as a former entrepreneur, I really love to help facilitate the community between other entrepreneurs, so it’s really something that brings life to a community and if the business owners in the community are able to come together and do fun things with the community, I think it’s just all the better for everyone involved.”
