Area teams achieve success at state

Sevierville — Two area high school golf teams won state championships last week.

The Hardin Valley Academy boys and Christian Academy of Knoxville girls claimed state titles while the HVA girls posted a runner-up finish.

The Hawks won their first Division I Class AA State Championship in school history.

Eli Glenn led the Hawks with a two-day, 36-hole total of 141 and rebounded in the second round with a score of 68 after shooting 73 on the first day of the tournament.

Hunter Mousa had a two-round total of 143 for Hardin Valley, which won the tournament with a team score of 519. Conner Williams and Jacob Sheffield each carded a two-day total of 144, while Arjun Patel finished with a 148 to round out the scoring for the Hawks.

Bearden High’s Charlie Culbertson posted a second-place individual finish with a score of 140, two shots behind Low Medalist Cody Walter of Walker Valley.

Hardin Valley girls take second in Class AA: The Lady Hawks, who came in third last season, posted a runner-up finish in 2025.

Addisyn Newman led Hardin Valley as she also finished second overall for the second straight year. Newman shot a 141 and Leona Patel had a two-day total of 162.

Farragut’s Harper Holmes finished in a 12th-place tie (156). Her teammate, Sophia Williams carded a two-day total of 165.

Lady Warriors repeat as Division II-A State champions: CAK won its second consecutive state title. Isabella Coughlin shot 143 and Grady Thomas finished with a two-round total of 151.

Tyler Stafford leads CAK boys at state: Stafford finished three-under (141) to lead the Warriors, who qualified as a team. He finished tied for fifth overall a Blake Russell was tied for 14th as he shot 152.

Concord Christian School junior Christopher Hamilton finished with a two-round total of 163.

In Division II-AA Girls: Knoxville Catholic finished third. Teagan Walker posted a third-place individual finish AA as she shot a two-round total of 141.

Webb’s Bella Patel shot a two-day total of 156, competing as an individual.

In Division II-AA Boys: Webb’s Nikhil Patel shot back-to-back 77’s to post a 154.
