KCSO police reports

Monday, Jan. 5, a Battle Front Trail resident reported that a check he placed in his mailbox was stolen and fraudulently altered. The complainant had mailed a check to American Express between Dec. 21-23, 2025. After receiving a late payment notification from the credit card company, he discovered the check had been mobile deposited with the payee name changed from American Express to a suspect's name. The incident involves charges of theft, forgery and fraud by false pretense. The financial institution involved also was listed as a victim in the case.

Tuesday, Jan. 6, a West Knoxville woman reported a check she mailed to Lenoir City Utilities Board was stolen and fraudulently altered. The complainant wrote a check for $7,010.06 on Nov. 17, 2025, and placed it in the drive-up drop box at Farragut Post Office. After receiving calls from the utility company in early December stating the payment was overdue, she checked her bank account and discovered a check for the exact amount had cleared. When she obtained a copy of the cashed check from her bank, she found it had been altered with a different check number, date and payee name. The check was made payable to a suspect identified only as Michael, with an illegible last name. The numeric and written amounts were in different handwriting, though the signature appeared similar to hers. The suspect had written "final payment" on the memo line. The incident involves charges of theft, forgery and fraud by false pretense. The bank also was listed as a victim in the case.



A female complainant reported to Knox County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, Jan. 7, that her shopping cart containing personal items was taken while she shopped at Costco on Kingston Pike. The complainant stated an unknown suspect took the cart she was using, which contained her wallet and vehicle keys. The reported stolen items included a black Kate Spade purse valued at $150, vehicle keys valued at $500, credit and debit cards, a Tennessee driver's license, a U.S. passport ID card valued at $100, and an Instacart shopper card.



Friday, Jan. 9, a female complainant reported her vehicle was stolen while she slept at a hotel on Campbell Lakes Drive. The complainant stated a male suspect she had met online took her 2008 gold Nissan Rogue SUV valued at $4,000 during the overnight hours between 5 p.m. Jan. 8 and 6:30 a.m. Jan. 9. Her cell phone was inside the vehicle at the time of the theft. The complainant was able to obtain the suspect's name, address and phone number from hotel management. Hotel management confirmed video footage of the incident is available and will be released to law enforcement.



On Friday, Jan. 9, Knox County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a burglary call at a Queensburry Drive residence. The complainant reported his ex-girlfriend entered his home without authorization and

stole cash and household items. The complainant told deputies the female suspect entered through a side door using a keypad earlier in the day. The suspect was not authorized to be at the residence. Once inside, she took approximately $150 in cash from the kitchen and a pillow and bedspread valued at $150 from the master bedroom. The complainant showed deputies security footage that appeared to show the suspect taking the items. He was provided a link to upload the footage to law enforcement.
