From packed to spacious
Consignment shop finds room to grow
However, she outgrew that space.
“We have our consignors and they keep bringing stuff, and I had nowhere to put it,” Hitch said.
She found more space at 11416 Kingston Pike, Suite B, in Farragut Shopping Center from a friend, Jeff Fields, who owns the center. She is sharing the space with long-time friend, Rena Amerson, owner of Amerson Group, which does estate sales. They moved in the suite the first of March.
Now, “everything is not so jam-packed in, Hitch said. “It’s easier for people to look more because it’s not compacted, and we’re able to get more things, more consigners.”
She carries high-end clothing, handbags, jewelry and other accessories and some art.
“We have some new hair accessories in,” Hitch pointed out.
“We also have our eBay store so we can take just about anything,” she added. “We’ll sell it.”
“They’re also affordable,” Amerson said about the merchandise. “This can draw any type of consumer.”
The move was a little overwhelming, according to Hitch. “But, when I got here it felt good … We had 100 square feet, so now we have 1,200 square feet.”
“It makes a huge difference,” Amerson added.
Designing the space, “I think my theme is eclectic — a little bit of everything,” Hitch said, adding she likes the space.
“It’s convenient,” she said. “It’s close to home. And when Rena came, it really made me happy.”
“The timing was perfect because I had a client whose mother had passed,” said Amerson, who added she was tasked to sell the mother’s belongings. “That’s when Janet was moving in here and had a little spot over there.”
The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday; from 10 am. to 3 p.m., Saturday; and closed Sundays.
“But, we also open by appointment, so if anybody wants to come in outside of business hours, I will open up the store for them,” Hitch said.
