Larsen Jay outlines vision in Knox mayor race
Dear Farragut Residents & Citizens of Knox County,
There has never been a more important time to serve Knox County. As our community grows and new challenges emerge, we need a common-sense, conservative leader with the experience, education and vision to guide us forward. I am running for Knox County mayor because I believe in public service and remain deeply committed to our community. I want our children and grandchildren to have the opportunity to live and thrive here – something that requires steady, honest and accountable leadership. With a lifetime of hard work, 20 years of executive leadership experience, and eight years as an at-large Commissioner, I am prepared to lead Knox County into the decades ahead.
The role of county mayor is much like that of a CEO. The mayor is responsible for managing and overseeing a $1.2 billion annual budget, ensuring taxpayer dollars are invested wisely. This role also includes leading more than 12,000 employees across county departments and working closely with the Knox County Commission to pass laws and maintain policies that keep our community safe, healthy and moving forward.
I bring to this role the values that matter most: honesty, integrity, transparency and accountability. Our community should expect nothing less. I take seriously the responsibility entrusted to me by the citizens of Knox County and will lead with common sense, thoughtful decision-making and a servant’s heart. My commitment is to the more than 514,000 residents I serve, and I will remain focused on improving the lives of as many people as possible.
My priorities are clear: improve roads and reduce traffic congestion; strengthen public safety through continued investment in law enforcement; and fully fund our public schools while striving for excellence for every student.
I encourage voters to look beyond political rhetoric and think of this election as you would your own family business. You are choosing the leader of a billion-dollar organization that provides essential services every day: education, safety, infrastructure, health and economic development. When considering who is best prepared to lead, I believe my experience and record of service stand out. I will work tirelessly, show up consistently and deliver honest, ethical and accountable leadership.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve. I humbly ask for your vote in the upcoming Republican primary.
Sincerely,
Larsen Jay
Knox County Commissioner
(At-Large, Seat 10)
Member of Leadership
Farragut Class of 2025
