Greene scholarship given at FHS Band Banquet
The 2026 seniors who received the scholarship are Maggie Doyle, Kate Kaufmann and Carleigh Tilson.
“The scholarship is for $5,000 for each student and is awarded to students who exhibit Michael’s qualities of real and fervent effort, kindness, courage, determination and dignity,” Janet Greene stated in a press release.
Doyle, daughter of Kara and Matt Doyle, plays flute in the FHS Admirals Marching Band and Concert Band. She has been the drum major for the marching band for the last two years and has been awarded a place in the Tennessee All-East Band all four years at FHS.
She plans to attend the University of Georgia and major in special education.
Kaufmann, daughter of Stacey and Russ Walters, plays flute and piccolo in marching band and concert band, has been a member of the Knoxville Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble from 2024 to the present and has been awarded a place in the Tennessee All-East Band all four years. She plans to attend the University of Tennessee and major in marketing.
Tilson, daughter of Meredith and Justin Tilson, plays flute and piccolo in FHS’s marching and concert bands and plays saxophone in the Jazz Cats Band. She also is a drum major for the marching band.
Tilson plans to attend University of Tennessee and major in animal science.
Andrew Smith and Rodney Brown are FHS’s band directors.
