Mayor, aldermen races highlight early voting
Early voting has arrived and Farragut residents can cast their votes at Farragut Community Center, 239 Jamestowne Blvd.
The early voting, which started Friday, July 17, will continue through Aug. 1. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday for two Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 1; and closed Sundays.
Town residents will vote for mayor — Alex Cain or Louise Povlin; North Ward 1 —Dian Hall or Joey Ruffalo and South Ward 2 — Joe LaCroix or Greg Wiberley.
Also, there are seats open for Knox County seats: Republican nominee Betsy Henderson or Democrat nominee Beau Hawk; Republican Nick McBride and Democrat Stephen Hood for county trustee;
Republican nominee Brent Gibson is running unopposed; and several County Commission and judge seats, among others.
In the federal Republican Primary race, Bill Haggerty is running for U.S. senate, and Tim Burchett is running for U.S. representative in District 2.
In the federal Democratic Primary race, Marquita Bradshaw, Maria Brewer, Kevin McCants, Civil Miller-Watkins and Diana Oneyejiaka are running for senator while Michaela Barnett is running for House representative in District 2.
In the state Republican Primary race, Marsha Blackburn, Monty Fritts and John Rose are running for governor; Jimmy Matlock is running for state senate in District 5; Dr. Richard Briggs is running for state senate in District 7; and Jason Zachary is running for House representative in District 14.
In the Democratic Primary, Carnita Atwater, Tim Cyr, Jerri Green, Adam “Ditch” Kurtz and Kevin Lee McCants are running for governor; David Miller is running for the District 5 state senate seat; Bryan Langan is running for the District 7 senate seat; and Lindsay Yourig Honaker and Shivam R. Zaveri are running for the District 14 House of Representatives seat.
