Six goals, zero losses for Webb
Webb (3-0) scored two first-half goals and four in the second half.
Senior Layla Kassira scored the Spartans’ first two goals in the first half. Sophomore midfielder Gideon Bradford recorded Webb’s third goal, sophomore Lexi Wiles scored a fourth goal and senior Mary Mac Emery scored the match’s final two goals.
Kassira and Emery are captains for Webb this season. The Spartans have three seniors serving as captains, along with Emorie Barton.
“We lost several starters, so we had five seniors last year,” Webb head coach Elaine Roth said. “Four of those five started for us, so it was a pretty big loss from last year.
“Kassira and Barton both played meaningful minutes the last two years and are really stepping up in leadership this year.”
Through three games in 2026, junior goalkeeper Lauren Newell has recorded two clean sheets against Farragut High School and Catholic. Webb won its season opener, 3-2, at Hardin Valley Academy.
“She is our junior goalkeeper and spent time with our freshman goalkeeper,” Roth said of Newell following their win against Catholic.
Webb played yesterday, Sept. 1, against Oak Ridge High School.
Catholic hosted Bearden High School (3-0-1) on Aug. 31 following its match against Webb. The Fighting Irish tied Bearden, 1-1.
The contest was Bearden’s first this season without a win after outscoring its opponents, 11-0. Bearden started its season with three clean sheet wins.
The Bulldogs began with a 4-0, road win at Oak Ridge High School, while winning at Powell High School, 3-0. Bearden entered its contest against Catholic after defeating Harpeth Hall from Nashville, 4-0, in its first home match.
Against Catholic, senior Madi Bowlin scored in the first half for the Bulldogs’ only goal. Gabby Mendez scored a second-half goal for the Fighting Irish and tied the match. Kate Hopkins also totaled 10 saves for Catholic.
Catholic (2-2-2) will return to action against West High School in a Sept. 3 home match.
