Fall festival rocks 35 North
“It feels like we were just starting up yesterday,” general manager Brady White said. “It used to operate off food trucks. We actually purchased the business in February 2023 then opened in October 2023. We kept the name but we’re a completely different entity.
“We put in an in-house kitchen with a fixed menu,” he said. “So, it’s no longer just the food trucks and bar situation it used to be.
“I still find quite a few people who have been here before that never came back and then they’ll find out … we’re an actual restaurant, and they’re very surprised,” White added.
Now, 35 North is known for steak and gnocchi, hot wing chicken sandwich, hot honey chicken sandwich, fried deviled eggs and its Asian-inspired 35 Nachos, which includes wonton chips.
It also features a large patio, which is dog friendly; live music every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night; and its 40 televisions are “always showing the Vols games,” he said.
The festivities will take place Friday through Sunday, Oct. 16-18, at 35 North, 11321 Kingston Pike.
Regarding the festival, “we typically do our fall festival around the same time [as the anniversary date] in October,” White said. “We opened up Oct. 16, 2023.”
The performers on Oct. 16 include Nathan Hinckley from 5-8 p.m. and Drunk Uncle from 8 to 11 p.m.
On Oct. 17, the bands include Stone Shine Blue from 5 to 8 p.m. and Liquid Velvet from 8 to 11 p.m.
“Sunday is going to be the big day,” White said. On that day, it is the Women Are Rock, a benefit event supporting Haven House, which is a house for domestic abuse victims.
“They take care of the women and help them get back on their feet,” he said.
Sunday’s bands include Short Term Memory, starting at 12:30 p.m., High School Reunion at 1:30 p.m., Jeanine Fuller and the True Funk Soldiers at 2:30 p.m., Judas Priest Tribute Band at 3:30 p.m., Wicked Veil at 4:30 p.m. and Ginger Band at 5:30 p.m.
The festival is free — there is no cover charge — and is open to everyone of all ages, White said.
“Music will be outside, weather permitting,” he added.
Along with the music, there also may be vendors as well as 35 North specials and Saturday and Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m..
“We’ll also have a merch tent set out,” White said.
