Officials investigating alleged FHS hazing
In a release, the sheriff’s office said it was made aware of the event by parents on Monday, Nov 2. Moreover, a KCSO spokesperson noted he only became aware of it when other media outlets requested information on the matter.
“Our Schools Unit immediately identified the students involved and took action to hold those responsible accountable,” the release stated. “Students involved face citations for misdemeanor charges for assault and harassment for bullying.”
The sheriff’s office is not aware yet of what happened, though the investigation remains ongoing through the aforementioned KCSO Schools Unit.
Any suspensions or school disciplinary measures will be handled by Knox County Schools, and the duration of those suspensions will be handled by the school system itself, per KCSO.
“All students involved are juveniles,” the release continued. “No identifying or other information is being released. Those charged are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.”
The farragutpress reached out to Knox County Schools for further comment but had not received anything as of press time Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Farragut High School principal Dr. John Bartlett did say the following in a brief statement Tuesday morning: “We are handling everything according to Knox County School Board policy and in conjunction with our Knox County sheriff’s partners. At this point in time, it is an ongoing investigation, so those are all the comments we have.”
